WHITE ANTSWhite ants are also known as termites and mainly feed on dead plants which include types of wood, leaves, soil, animal excrement. White ants, though not technically part of the ant family can cause just as much structural damage to crops, buildings, or plantation forests. Termites live in colonies which can contain anywhere from several hundred to several million bodies. They are an incredibly intelligent type of 'pest' and a prime example of a self-organised system. They use swarm intelligence and mutual cooperation to exploit food sources. The usual colony contains workers, soldiers, reproductive individuals of both sexes, nymphs (semi-mature termites). There can be any number of egg-laying queens in one colony. Termites are attracted to wood which is why homes are a perfect breeding ground for them. There isn't a home in the world that doesn't have some sort of timber lying around somewhere so don't even begin to think that white ants won't infest your home at some point, even if you're careful. They are also attracted to water and can nest in leaking water pipes, drains, sinks, showers and even air conditioning units. Do you want to remove white ants and make sure they never return?
